Burning Up, But Hate Shorts? Wear This.

It’s the same problem every year.
The Texas heat is stifling, but I’d rather stay inside all summer long than wear shorts. Enter stylist and closet consultant Gabi Buehring of Life Styled Simply to save the day. Here are her picks for a summer capsule wardrobe that will keep you cool … and covered.
summer wardrobe with numbers
1. Black Maxi Dress from Target (or this one from Gap!)
A maxi is a great staple piece for summer. Dress it up with accessories or down with tennis shoes.
2. Green Romper from Old Navy
I like this romper because it’s a cropped, wide leg pant. It’s a good transition piece throughout the year.
3. Summer Denim Dress from Old Navy
I think this dress is such an easy piece to help you feel put together.
4. White Tennis Shoes from Target
Basic white tennis shoes are on trend and complete any summer outfit.
5. White Tank from Lou & Grey
A white tank is a perfect staple. Pair with linen pants or a midi skirt.
6. Pleated Skirt from J. Crew
I love a good midi skirt. This would be great dressed up for church, but you could even add graphic tee, white tennis shoes and a denim jacket for a more casual look.
7. Black Swing Dress from Old Navy
This is my personal go to. Just throw it on and go. It comes in all colors and patterns.
8. Striped T-Shirt Dress from J. Crew Factory
This dress keeps you cool and wrinkle-free.
9. Black Sandals from Target
A good basic, black sandal is a summer must!
10. Midi Skirt from Lou & Grey
This midi skirt is a great piece. I love the pattern and texture. Pair with the white or black tank and black sandals. Add a summer hat and you are set for a day out with the family.
Here’s another great summer basic that goes with everything.
12. Sun Hat from Target
Everyone needs sun protection!
13. Tie Dye Dress from J.Crew Factory (currently sold out, but try this one from Gap!)
Tie dye is all the rage this season. You can find it almost everywhere. I would pair it with a chambray shirt tied around my waist and white tennis shoes or sandals.
14. Wide Leg Linen Pants from Lou & Grey
Wide leg pants are in this season. I own similar pants to these. They are so comfy and lightweight.
15. Summer Dress from J. Marie or The Store in Lake Highlands
I love these dresses. They are timeless and effortless. Just throw on with some white sandals, colorful earrings and you are ready for a (socially distanced) barbecue.
16. Joggers from Lou & Grey
These are great summer joggers.
17. Mules from Target
I personally own these shoes and have for the past three years. They have held up and are perfect to transition from season to season.
These joggers are comfortable, cute and pair well with almost everything.
