This quarantine has made me crafty. I’ve stained tables, painted chairs and, most recently, transformed a $15 media console into a child’s desk. Come at me, e-learning!
Unfortunately, this quarantine has not made me perfect or patient, so my diy desk is riddled with imperfections. That’s ok because its recipient is four-years-old and lacks attention to detail. It couldn’t be any more perfect to him if it was covered in candy!
Here’s what I did:
- Bought three sheets of Cavallini decorative wrap papers in National Parks print. (They have so many wonderful prints!)
- Found a $15 media console on a neighborhood for-sale site.
- Removed its doors and hardware.
- Sanded the furniture.
- Painted it with Sherwin-Williams “Artichoke” paint (It was leftover from our bathroom redo project).
- Realized I needed to knock out the bottom. Touched up the paint.
- Cut and placed the paper where I wanted it (Used very professional tools like mercury glass votives and keys to hold it in place).
- Used Mod Podge to attach the paper. Waited 15 minutes. Put a layer of Mod Podge on top. Waited 2 hours.
- Immediately realized I should have bought a roller for the Mod Podge to eliminate air bubbles and paper creases. Oh, well.
The final result is sweet and perfect for what we needed!
